Vestavia Dance

Wow, what a few days. I have been super busy all week. Beginning on Monday I was doing all the last minute details for the rehearsal and recital. It is mentally and physically taxing. There is so much I have to have prepared I don't think I could type everything that would give it credit. The main thing is we hold these events at the local high school, so I have to have everything completely prepared. I can't just run back to my office and get what I forgot.

The rehearsal is by far the worst. It is organized chaos for sure. Finding and moving 3, 4, 5, and 6 year olds is hard enough, now try doing it in the dark. The older kids are not nearly as hard to gather. We don't get to start until 4:30pm to give the high school time to clear the carpool out. So we are already destined for a late night. It ran smoothly, so the parents told me and we got out of there by about 10:45 Friday night. The best thing we ever did was hire me a helper for Friday night, so I can stay backstage and make sure everything is in the right order. So I get home about 11, and I am pooped and decided to go to bed and get up early and do some last minute details that morning. Well at about 2am I decided to quit fighting the sleep, so I got up and did the work I needed do, then headed back to bed about 3:30am and slept until about 5:30am. 2 hours of sleep to prepare me for the longest day of my work year.

Recital morning! I have to get to the high school early and prepare the lobby and the holding rooms for the children. I have to make sure the entrance is inviting and that there are all the signs I need to tell the parents where to take their children. I have to make sure the rooms have everything the workers might need to prepare them for the long day with LOTS of kids. And then I hide back stage or I get bombarded with questions and chit chat. I got things to do. Now lets get this show on the road. At 10am we began our 'Young' recital and it went very well. It lasted right over an hour, a perfect length for the young ones and their parents. We get a break until 1. During this time I have to transition the rooms and the lobby with new signs and information for the new group of kids. This is the long one. It started at 1 and ended about 4:45. But I can't think of a major problem so I guess that is a good thing.

All in all a good recital, just long and stressful. Then I went home sat on the couch for about 10 minutes then packed a bag and got in the car and rode to Mobile with mom to go to a visitation and funeral tonight and tomorrow. Now just how am I going to get home. Not too sure yet. If I don't get any offers before Wednesday I definitely have a ride back then.

Ok off to rest I think.

Pray for me

Ok, so I will update on everything after the recital is over. But pray for me Friday and Saturday. The Rehearsal is tomorrow and the Recital is Saturday. I have a lot to get done. All of a sudden I have a lot of emotions hitting and I just hope I can hold it together through all of this. I am so ready to relax next week!
